Super Rare 1960’s Kenneth Jay Lane crystals set oval barrette set (four pronged setting for each stone, not glued in) in faded vintage metal, all in all giving a desultory look of faded glory, like Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard, no doubt done whimsically, on purpose, by Lane. The signature “K.J.L.” without any copyright © or registered ® Mark distinguishes Lane’s 1960’s work from the rest of his later creations, which starting in early 70’s had the commercial protection markings of ® and © along with KJL. KJL’s from the 50’s had no signature. This Kenneth Jay Lane Art Deco oval barrette is 3” by 1 1/4”. The black and white high polished bone barrette is 2 5/8” by 5/8”, and the three stars with eight points, each filled with tiny white beads and seven set rhinestones per star, is 2 1/4” by 1/2”. These are all quality vintage barrettes from the 1960s. This is mid-Century fashion. All are collectible and wearable. Very classy. Very lightly used, if at all. Superb vintage condition.
